New Album.Message from Lee.

Hello all you good people of the Nazareth Forum!
I hope that this message finds you all well.
May the good lord shower you with gifts of happiness and joy etc....!
Firstly,a quote from Pete as will be featured in the 'Big Dogz' official press release.
"They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but having recorded
the new Nazareth album 'Big Dogz' I don't agree.
We've got some tasty bones here!
Our friends at Edel offered us the opportunity to mark some new territory
and the 'Nazhounds' are delighted to be back among their pack.
We're straining at the leash to tour this puppy.
We reckon it's bitchin'!
So get ready, because in 2011 the Big Dogz gonna howl!!"
You see what he did there? With the dogs and everything?
He's a smart puppy,my old man!
I'd like to apologise for the lack of information that has been
available on the new album.
We're really just finalising everything just now.
I'm writing this on my brothers ancient old crappy laptop from a hotel
room in Brazil with an Internet connection that's about as stable
as Charlie Sheen at a wine tasting.
Classic Naz! Nothings ever easy my friends!
So.The new album 'Big Dogz' will be released on April 15th....Probably!
No.I'm sure April 15th will be the day.
Just as long as Edel records doesn't get washed away by a tsunami
or some other damn thing then April 15th is the day.
April 15th.
The new Nazareth album 'Big Dogz' will be released
on the 15th of April 2011.
Or I'm going to cry.
Typically,a lot of key stuff seems to be happening just as the
band has started the first tour of the year, here in Brazil.
With all the travelling and gigging and cerveja it's been a little tricky
to keep track of events.
Here's the deal so far.
It would seem that the record company has put out little
snippets of tracks from the album.
This is cool and I hope you like 'em,but I should say that what
you've heard isn't the finished master.
I say this because Yann(the producer)was still completing the
mastering process only two days ago.
It'll be the same songs, except they'll sound absolutely fantastic!
I have to say that!
The album proper will have 11 brand new tracks for your delectation.
The plan is to put the album out on CD and vinyl with a deluxe
version that will feature an acoustic set and lots of naked photographs
of the band.
The acoustic set was recorded by none other than Bruce Watson of
Big Country fame upstairs in 'Sinky's Bar'(gone now,sad to say)
in the summer of 2000.
Ages ago!
With today's recording technology this old chestnut has been
remastered and sounds really cool.
Ronnie Leahy was still with us at the time so he's on there along
with some wonderfully 'farty' acoustic bass from Pete!
Personally,I really like the versions of 'Simple Solution' and
'Open up woman'.
And 'Love Hurts' is there. Obviously.
I hear that song in my sleep!
So it should be a nice package.
The album cover of the 'Big dog' that's been up on the
site is the official cover.
It's what I like to call - 'PostmodernScoobyDooRawkBiteyerBumistArt'.
Snappy huh?
We wanted to do something a bit more 'Rawk' and to be
honest I thought that's what most of you guys and gals
wanted to see as well.
I urge you to check it out in it's proper resolution.
We got the logo right though!!!!!!!
The inclusion of the 'Winged Skull' or 'Brian' as I like to call him
was because it's become something of an icon for Nazareth.
I see it on all these 'anthology' albums and bootlegs,Tshirts, tattoos
posters....you name it.
So it seems a good idea to include Brian in the new cover.
I think it'll look 'smokin' on a Tshirt and even better when Beerman
gets it tattooed to his head. He's running out of space you know!
And it was designed by my wife.
Come see me if you've got a problem with that.
Are you talking to me?........Are you talking to me......?!!!
Because of the delay on the album release date we won't
be playing any material live from it until the European dates in April..
Sorry if this is a disappointment to some of you.
We feel that it would be best in the long run if the first time these songs
are aired, it's as they were intended.
That way we don't end up with the new album coming out
via a Brazilian mobile phone!
Anyway,I hate it when I go and see an established band and they play
a load of stuff that I've never heard before.
Cue fevered debate.............!!!
In other news:
We are hoping to do a charity show in Dunfermline at some point this
year on behalf of the Mary Leishman Foundation.
The details are all very sketchy but all going to plan this will be a
co-headline show with the mighty Big Country!
I hope this happens 'cause it would be a great night.
Watch this space.
Also, we are looking to set up a proper link with MKDorman's site..
I'm sure most of you are familiar with Mike but if not, check out his stuff.
He's got a ton of goodies, past and present that we hope to help him
build up even more.
While I'm here I'd like to thank you all very much for you're
continued support.
I feel very privileged to be able to do what we do and it's all
down to folks like you.
I know the whole band feel the same way.
Take care of yourselves and we hope to see you this year
for some Big dog Howling!
Slainte,
Lee.
