NO MORE POP ALBUMS FOR ELTON
Don’t expect any more pop albums from Elton John. The singer told USA Today he is moving away from the genre and plans to focus more on blues music. He stated, “I might collaborate with Lady Gaga or the Scissor Sisters on a single, but I’m not going to make pop albums anymore.” Elton went on to say that while he loves electronic and dance music, he’ll never be able to make music like it because, as he said, “I’m 63 and too old. If I ever tried, I wouldn’t be true to myself.” Read more at USAToday.com.

^^He can do pretty much anything and carry it off. Funny we were talking about him the other day how "11-17-70" was by far his hardest rockin' album and my opinion has always been after Blue Moves he lost something and I don't have any of his albums beyond that one.

I don't think he should set his sites on anything defenite. If it fails he may make that new pop album anyway. He's great at it. I don't see the problem.

Having said that...I could dig a blues album from him (he's done a few bluesy numbers in his time anyway) ...just not a complete turaround.

^^MP, I don't drink Pop and I am not a big fan of the genre either,,,with the exceptions of a few 60's and 70's artists more than anything else. The modern Pop scene, I leave it to those who like Lady Gaga and the rest...not saying they are terrible but you'll find me in the Metal section with Kai, and Roy and Bill and most of my other rowdy friends...:hb:

Thank Gawd for my European hard rock metal bands, they have restored my faith in rock music over the last four years...

I wouldn't mind seeing a Lady Gaga or Scissor Sisters collaboration since I've enjoyed little things he's done with them so far. I'm very happy to know that Elton doesn't want to do dance pop or anything. Maybe he'll be getting back to his style from the 70's now.

It would be great if he got back together with Bernie Taupin and wrote songs again...with the 70's feel to them.:D
