There are a number of bands that I like a whole lot buuuuuuuuuut there are things that I don't always enjoy with them. For example Alice has a string of albums in the early 80's that I really didn't like. "Dada" was decent but the likes of "Zipper Catches Skin" and "Special Forces" just were not good in my book. Also (contrary to what some people might believe) I do not full enjoy Queen's entire catalog. The "Flash Gordon Soundtrack" and much of "Hot Space" are the best examples of that aside from maybe one song on some of their other albums.
I could give examples like this for many of my other favorite artists (we all make poor choices sometimes right?), but there is one man out there that I will defend to death no matter what group he is in and that is the cat suit clad lad in my sig, Mr. Justin Hawkins. I fully support every Darkness song (including the B-sides and rarities), the sole album released by Hot Leg, the little work he put out as British Whale, and the awesome song he wrote with Beverlie Brown "They Don't Make Them Like The Used To" for the show "Making Your Mind Up" (the is exactly 50 songs that get 5 out of 5 stars from me). I even support Justin's new mustache because (even though I think he looks much better without it) one cannot deny that it is a glorious piece of facial fur.

The closest I get to disapproval (since he is clean now) is the panflute solo that opens The Darkness' second album, which I have just edited out anyway so that I can get straight to the rocking.

I should clarify here, I meant "nothing wrong" in their music output, not in their personal life. Cosmic has the right idea.

There are some bands and artists that I absolutely love, but being 100% honest, I don't think any of them haven't done anything that didn't make me scratch my head or at the very least, just kind of skip past because it just wasn't THAT great.

Stevie Ray Vaughan (for me) would be way up on that list though.

Musically I think that everything Jeff Lynne has touched has turned to gold. The main criticism that I hear is that everything he touches sounds the same. Other criticisms include "pretentious", "overblown" and so on, but to my ears, all that is what I love to hear.

Another one is Jon Bon Jovi. I have everything he recorded so far and have yet to hear something I do not like.

Edit: I should of read the opening post, because it explained things more. I just read the thread topic ''Name an artist that you feel can do no wrong'' so, I went with Tom Petty. Petty isn't controversial, so he doesn't need my defending.

I hope you enjoy reading my Tom Petty post anyway! lol.gif

*****************************************

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

Over the last 30 years Tom Petty and the boys has done nothing but put out solid albums, one after another, with out putting out a clunker of an album. Not too many artists can claim that honor.

Tom Petty has also kept a pretty low media profile too, as far as 'trouble' goes. He hasn't got arrested or busted for drugs or said asinine things, like many rockers have done. Also, Tom has been non political, so he never alienated his fan base, like many rockers have done.

Tom Petty is the coolest rock star of the last 30 years.

And it seems he can do no wrong.

MY NEW FAVORITE MEMBER!!!!!!!!!:lmao:

Petty and Dead... we have very, very, very similar tastes:grinthumb:bow:

I will admit Let Me Up, I've Had Enough, was somewhat disappointing and The Last DJ was pretty lame for the most part... but for Last DJ is the only one I can't listen to the whole album, it does have its moments though...He redeemed himself with Highway Companions, so its all good

Genesis, naturally. I like Peter Gabriel's singing, I like Phil Collins' singing and to some extent I like Ray Wilson's singing. I now have their entire discography, and a lot of bonus tracks and B-sides as well, and I like all of them. Even Illegal Alien which seems to have a bad reputation amongst Genesis listeners :D

I don't believe any artist can do wrong because art is all about the process of mistakes and successes! In all of my artist careers I wouldn't want the edited version because it's the different roads and chances they take make them worth following even if everything they do isn't gold.
