Lynyrd Skynyrd are in the midst of what they're calling the Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour. But according to guitarist Gary Rossington, they plan on continuing beyond the last date on their current schedule. On the upcoming episode of AXS TV's The Big Interview with Dan Rather, Rossington revealed that they have future plans.

"After a few years of doin’ [the farewell tour], we’re gonna do a new record," he said. "So, we won’t go away, but we won’t be touring every year like we do.”

In the preview clip below, Rossington explained that their lengthy history as road warriors is why it's hard for them to say goodbye. “It takes a long time to finish a farewell tour when you’re like us, ‘cause we’ve played everywhere and there's thousands of venues," he said. "I keep jokin’ it’d take 10 years to do the farewell tour.”

"Gary's goin', 'It's gonna be a long farewell,'" singer Johnny Van Zant added.

In the second clip, Rossington spoke about the songwriting gifts of the late Ronnie Van Zant. "He came out with stuff because he felt so much from his heart, and it just came through him, through God or through whatever spirit it is that makes people write songs and pull them out of the air," he said. "They would come to him, and they were magical. Like I keep saying, if he couldn’t remember ‘em, he wouldn’t write it. It had to be good enough to remember, and most of ‘em are.”

The Lynyrd Skynyrd episode of The Big Interview with Dan Rather airs this Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 9PM Eastern on AXS TV.

No surprises there. They've been talking about a new abum for a long time and we know there's no such thing as the last gig, unless Gary passes away.

I'm really looking forward to the full interview!
