The judge's statements made me LOL.
"plaintiffs are suggesting an award that is 'more money than the entire music recording industry has made since Edison's invention of the phonograph in 1877."
She further went on to say, " the overarching issue is reasonableness in order to avoid absurd and possibly unconstitutional outcome."
Things don't look too good for the plaintiff getting this kind of money !

Lawyers...guns...and money...oops make that record executives...insanity and no chance of collecting anything but a few laughs.
Talk about coming late to the party...limewire is obsolete and has been for a couple of years, which in the technological universe is almost like decades.
Next will be a class action suit against everyone who tape recorded off radio broadcasts and VHS tapes for movies/tv series.
This is too funny to take seriously.

It's my understanding that bit torrent isn't illegal, it's what you do with it that could be. That said, that amount of money is absurd. If one individual is responsible for knowingly allowing copywritten works to be uploaded then you reep what you sow. Trillions.......that is funny!

Indeed! First they tried shutting Napster down, then Kazaa came into the picture. After they got shut down, Limewire came along. They should just throw in the towel because there's going to be another file sharing program that will take the place of Limewire.

Me thinks the record companies should spend their time and resources on putting together quality music and not whining about money that they'll never get.

They are just mad that bands no longer pay for their **** ups.
The music business is no longer about selling physical recordings. They are basically sign posts along a career of a band. There will always be a small market for that, but it is not the pinciple anymore. The bands are the product and that is how it should have been from day one.
They now have very little influence on the distribution of music which makes them have to be much more cooperative and sympathetic to bands.
They are just mad that bands no longer pay for their **** ups.
