^ good choice to have as your favourite.

Another tune that goes outside the usual Zeppelin square.
Really cool funky tune.

Most people pronounce that DIE-er Make-er

But in actuality I believe it Jeer-er Make-er

Like Jamaica which makes sense considering the whole Caribbean feel.

Just a piece of fun trivia :flirt

I still don't get why Houses was a heavily criticised album, I like that it was outside the usual box of their previous stuff. The Rain Song was awesome particularly.

I LOVE 'Boogie With Stu' with the Rolling Stone's road manager and pianist Ian Stewart, jamming along on the piano :grinthumb

Because Houses was a completely different sound for the band and other Zep albums like III caught a lot of heat as well for not sticking to the hard rocking formula. Even the hardest-rocking song from HOTH (No Quarter) doesn't bear any resemblance to their earlier, harder, more driving hits they'd been known for amongst their fans and songs like D'yer Mak'er, with its reggae incorporations, were too unfamiliar to be appreciated at the time. I'd say The Ocean is the one song that was relatable at the time to their hardcore fanbase. Even III has garnered due respect by fans and critics alike over the years but for some reason Houses seems to elude the respect it deserves. Glad you like it! Always been my favorite by them.

This song is actually a variation of a Ritchie Valens tune and Zep dedicated it to his mother since she never received any royalties from his songs. It's a fun tune. :grinthumb

I find it eternally funny that critics lambasted them for the heavy music they laid out in the first two LPs describing it as un-original and un-imaginative then recoil in shock after the acoustic flavored third. The band then creatively combined the two elements in their fourth release leaving them with little room to complain. I reckon they expected the same thing for numero cinco. Well, they were dead wrong weren't they? Point is that most them can't handle change and are EASILY led by their noses [ears?] while having the temerity to demand growth musically from artists. Full-on stupid...
