Here's a video with a lot of old photos...many with the bandit make up. Near the end of the video we can see how much better it all came together when Paul brought the star back and the other guys re defined their face paint.

on this day in 1951, Paul Daniel Frehley was born in the Bronx, New York.

Happy 62 birthday Ace - an inspiration to MANY incredible guitarists that came after you and a long-time fan favorite

Ace was one of the 2 or 3 biggest influences on me when I first decided to pick up a guitar and pretend I could play ... many many years ago. Forgive me if I post a slew of pictures today.

Kiss Add U.S. Dates to 2013 Summer Run

Kiss recently revealed that they will spend much of July touring Canada and now, they’ve added a few U.S. stops to the trek as well, beefing up their North America tour.

In continued support of their latest disc ‘Monster,’ Kiss will expand the tour deeper into August with four new stops. The concert additions include Gilford, N.H. on Aug. 7 at the Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion, Verona, N.Y. on Aug. 8 at the Turning Stone Casino, Simpsonville, S.C. on Aug. 13 at the Charter Amphitheatre and Orlando, Fla. on Aug. 16 at the Amway Arena.

Routing for these new shows leave Kiss with a day or two off leading up to some dates and quite a distance to cover, so it seems only logical that they may eventually add a few more stops in between. But for now, the newly confirmed dates are listed below.

Tickets for the new dates go on sale to the general public on Friday, May 3. Kiss will get everything started in Europe when they kick off their tour on June 1 in Stockholm, Sweden.

8/7 — Gilford, N.H. – Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion
8/9 — Verona, N.Y. – Turning Stone Casino
8/13 — Simpsonville, S.C. – Charter Amphitheatre
8/16 — Orlando, Fla. – Amway Arena

Kiss Promise New Stage Show Featuring Fireball-Shooting Spider

Kiss.jpg

You can never accuse Kiss of not putting on an over-the-top rock show. But for the upcoming European leg of their ‘Monster’ tour, the band are unveiling a new stage setup that they promise is a step beyond even their previous stadium spectaculars.

“It’s really great,” Paul Stanley tells VH1 Radio Network’s Dave Basner (quote via Blabbermouth). “You know, for so many years, we’ve talked about a new stage show and basically what we’ve been doing has been an extension of the old stage show. So people would sometimes come and, obviously, the band does a great show and it’s great to be there, but some people would say, ‘Gee, it doesn’t look that different.’ This is a completely different stage, it follows a really great theme, the lights are like nothing you’ve ever seen before.”

Gene Simmons recently shared some details about the upcoming shows in a Q&A session with a group of fans, revealing that the new stage includes a giant spider that shoots fireballs out of its tentacles.

“This spider is just beyond anything you’ve seen,” he raved. “It’ll be able to be flat and come up and walk almost to the front of the stage. It’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen.”

The new stage will also feature a 70-foot screen, and it’s not just the stage that’s more dynamic. Simmons says the musicians are pushing their limits, too. “We’re gonna levitate and go 30 rows into the audience,” he says. “Oh — and play songs! It’ll be the best tour yet, you’ll see.”

Kiss are slated to kick off the European leg of their 2013 summer tour on June 1 in Stockholm, Sweden. They will return to the U.S. for a string of four dates in August.

Paul Stanley Doesn’t Need the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Paul-Stanley-Paul-Kane.jpg

With HBO set to air highlights of the 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony later tonight (May 18), Paul Stanley took the opportunity to speak his mind about how Kiss has been overlooked over the years. In a new interview, he railed against the museum.

“Look, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is marketing,” he told the Huffington Post. “You’ve got a bunch of faceless people in a back room who trademark a name that sounds very official. Well, if you had thought of it first, you would have been the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”

But unlike, say the Sex Pistols and Axl Rose, Stanley would gladly acknowledge the honor – should it ever happen – because it means a lot for their fans to see them inducted. “I would certainly accept on their behalf because it seems to be a major sore spot for them, but I don’t need the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.” As for when that might happen, he added, ”Well, it depends on who lives longer, us or Jann Wenner.”

Instead, Stanley takes pride in the number of popular musicians today who grew up listening to Kiss, which is all he needs to justify Kiss’ placement among rock’s elite.

“It’s absurd for anybody to look around and hear the acts and artists who cite us as an inspiration,” he said. “And then tell me that we’re not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”
