Yes it was in my stocking :D Regards what I think to it... I want so much to love it, just like with her 2005 album Aerial, and I feel I should, but both albums are just a bit too mellow (for want of a better word) for me. I love the wild, unabandoned Kate, the soaring vocals, the voice that's like an untamed animal, but with the aforementioned albums you just don't get that. Basically what you have, imo, are two albums consisting of easy listening tracks, and compared to her earlier albums I just find them - dare I say it - bland. However you do still get eccentricity in the barrel-load and great lyrics so all is not lost on me :) I need to listen to them both a lot more - I always find myself playing her earlier albums everytime I'm in a Kate mood - so I can see if they grow on me any. But there's the thing - her earlier albums didn't need to grow on me, so... um, I just don't know  To end on a positive note (as I feel like I have blasphemed :heheh:) Aerial and 50 Words For Snow are certainly excellent albums to chill out to :D

^^I feel guilty for asking now after reading your answer Tray...:peek

:heheh:

Very nice explanation, not sure if I'll track down the new album or not but at least I know how a die hard intelligent fan feels about 50 Words For Snow.:grinthumb

:heheh: No problem my dear.

I think I'm in the minority amongst Kate fans, well if the reviews on Amazon are anything to go by - most seem to love both Aerial and 50 Words For Snow. However there are a number of die-hard fans who've followed her for years that seem to feel similar to me, a few even actually hating those two albums!

It would take a lot to get to me to hate an album by a band I really like...the only two I can think of right now are King of Limbs, and Lulu...which is not a Metallica record but really was a terrible effort. Oh and Queensryche's last pile of rubbish as well.;)

I agree, although some have come close (thinking Radiohead too!). If what I've heard is correct the next Muse album may just bomb big style with me as Matt Bellamy is rumoured to be planning an album full of lullaby-type songs - not my thing at all!

^^Why doesn't Bellamy release them on a solo album instead? That way he gets to do the laid back songs he wants and Muse can do their normal thing.

I know artists hate being "hidebound" eternally, but when you are a successful band like Muse then you should think of your fans as well.

I'll look forward to your comments about the next Muse album....and hope it's not as bad as you think.;)

I'm hoping the rumours are just that, rumours! As he's just had a baby with Kate Hudson he may have been having a joke about the next album, although I hear he was serenading the baby before it was born so he probably does have a whole bunch of lullabies he's written that he's tempted to put to disc!

...:hm:

Well if I were in the band I would tell him "No friggin' way is Muse releasing a lullaby record!".:nw:

Let him do that on his own. I thought Kate Hudson was hooked up with someone else, but I don't pay attention to those things generally.;)

Ha yes, they should refuse - make him do it solo if he insists!

I think they are still together and are engaged to be married. Old Kate does get through men quite quickly though and I wouldn't be at all surprise if Matt ends up another broken-hearted casualty tossed away by Ms Hudson.

Loving the first few albums Kate made, currently playing The Kick Inside. My father and me loved that album. I first heard Kate on the radio on a saturday morning. I was thrilled by her music, went out that afternoon and bought it. I called my father and he thought it was another 'guitar' album. He liked it right away.
