Finally!!! Some new Kamelot. Definitely a bit of a different vibe on this track, while still sounding Kamelot. Really looking forward to this album.

I've never listened to this band though I've known of their existence for some time. What I did not know was hos long they have been around and how many albums they've released. I'd be lying if I said I was instantly impressed by their music by listening to a couple of songs. I love Nightwish, but I don't love everything they've done. And there is at leas some similarity between the two bands.
For those unfamiliar (like I was until very recently) here is a brief synopsis of the band from Wikipedia:
Kamelot is an American power metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed by Thomas Youngblood in 1987. The Norwegian vocalist Roy Khan joined for the album Siége Perilous, and shared songwriting credit with Youngblood until his departure in April 2011. On June 22, 2012, Youngblood announced on their website that their new vocalist would be the Swedish singer Tommy Karevik, who was first featured on Kamelot's album Silverthorn as the main vocalist, co-songwriter, and lyricist.
As of 2026, Kamelot has released fourteen studio albums, three live albums, two live DVDs and twenty music videos.

Roy Khan joining was a serious turning point for the band's sound. Good stuff before he joined and it took a couple albums before they really settled into the more symphonic style.
Black Halo & Ghost Opera are the peak of the Roy Khan era. Then the Tommy Kerevik era has been pretty spectacular as well.
This was their first track I ever heard, on Sirius Hard Attack around 2007 and I was sold on the band (also sold on Epica, Simone's band named after the 6th Kamelot album).
