Official Kamelot Website
Kamelot is Power/Symphonic (I dunno what to classify them as) Metal band from.....the U.S.? Yeah, you heard me, from Tampa, Florida!!!
Anyway, they are a band I will listen to a lot for a month or two then forget about them for months until I hear something by them and remember how amazing they are.
As of 2011, Kamelot has released nine studio albums, three live albums, one live DVD, eight music videos and a reissue of their latest record Ghost Opera.
Studio Albums:
Eternity (1995)
Dominion (1997)
Siége Perilous (1998)
The Fourth Legacy (1999)
Karma (2001)
Epica (2003)
The Black Halo (2005)
Ghost Opera (2007)
Poetry for the Poisoned (2010)
Silverthorn (2012)
Their line-up is as follows:
* Roy Khan: Lead vocals (1998−present)
* Thomas Youngblood: Guitars, Backing vocals (1991−present)
* Sean Tibbetts: Bass guitar (1991−1992, 2009−present)
* Casey Grillo: Drums (1997−present)
* Oliver Palotai: Keyboards (2005−present)
they did have a previous vocalist, but he did not have as amazing and well amazing voice as Norwegian vocalist Roy Khan.
I wouldn't really like this band as much if it wasn't for Roy, his voice is so very perfectly suited to the dark feel of his and Thomas's songwriting, and its has such an epic feel to it, and it isn't one of those super-high traditional Power Metal voices.
I'll do a more in-depth album overview when I have a chance (or Grendel, I know you love these guys as well, and you are more knowledgeable about them then I am, you could do some if you wish) But here are a couple of songs to get you started.
------------
This is, to my knowledge, their most recent video, so you can see where they are right now
Here's a live video (yeah, they sound almost exactly the same live, that's how perfect they are) of my personal favorite 'The Haunting' with Epica vocalist Simone Simons.
And one of their ballads that I love as well.
