Well, for conversations sake I'll throw out that my least favorite tune so far is "She's a Mystery" The vocals are fine but I don't like the arrangement very much. Sometimes the guitar work seems like it's aimed at a Zeppelin style! Anyone else will have to tell me if they agree! :D

Also the transition to heavy is anything but seamless! Not very good songwriting there IMO!

You may have to wait until I get it. My first time hearing a CD is usually when I buy it. But I'll pay attention to that track since you brought it up. Hopefully I'll pick it up tomorrow. Not sure.

I don't see the Zeppelin thing myself. Give it a chance... I'm 8 spins ahead of you :grinthumb

Oh I am man! I bought it! :heheh: But seriously I'm a fan and I'm enjoying it! :) I just got into pre-Perry Journey this past year and didn't like it at first and I'm now into it on a different level. I'm starting to think career wise Journey may be becoming one of my favorite classic rock bands right under The Doors and CCR! :grinthumb

I may have to do what I do with any other album. Listen to it once when I get it, and wait like...a day or two to listen to it again. That way it's refreshing to my ears. And if I see anything I like or don't like, i'll see it on those listens, instead of critiquing it first time through. First time through is for enjoyment purposes, at least for me.

Even if a song isn't my favorite no song on earth ever really lacks enjoyment for me except my "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion. That's painful! :oyea: Anyway, I just wanted to get a little buzz and discussion about the album. Every albums going to have the songs that hit you and the ones that don't! :heheh:

Well yeah I suppose that is true. There have been albums i've listened to where a song or two just doesn't sit right with me the first time. But I still listen through it just so I have the whole album listened to for one time. But I totally understand what you're saying :grinthumb Some songs really just need a few spins to get it to your liking, or disliking :p

What I find interesting is the amount of buzz this disc has generated... more than anything I can think of lately. Think that speaks to the overall love of Journey. IMO love it or hate it... it is not what most ppl would have been expecting...

You are right! I like underdog stories like that. It sounded like the reason Perry split period was ego issues and to replace him with this seemingly down to earth unassuming singer with surprisingly amazing pipes and make such an epic album that'll make them relevant again is the perfect revenge story! :grinthumb BTW, To Whom It May Concern is another awesome track! Love it towards the end especially! :grinthumb

This is truly a rebirth I think... and personally I couldn't be happier for the band and the fans. The haters are still gonna hate and the Perry mourners are gonna miss the boat... unless they actually listen to this. OK... off my soap box. :D
