Joan Crawford played backwards, at the wrong speed with a bad needle on a warped album would still sound 1000x better than anything that ever came out of Eddie Vedder's mouth.

Another thing about Joan Crawford that I find interesting lyrically.....
JC is also something that our friend Jesus is often refereed to as. While J.C. ( Joan Crawford in this case ) is seen to be rising from the dead, in the BOC song, an Armageddon like scene is also unfolding, in the story line.

Jesus rises ..end of the world ( according to...)

Joan Crawford rises ...end of the world ( according to BOC )

Sort of a play on Christina Crawford's book, and the end time scenarios.

That's cool DKW! I like hearing tidbits like that! Makes me look into songs a little more. I've become more of a BOC fan since joining this forum. They have some nice melodies and instrumental parts to their music. As far as between these songs from what DKW says both kind of tell a story. Pearl Jams story is less ambiguous and I don't have a preference myself but Joan Crawford is a little more campy to me in it's delivery. The chorus is cool but I can almost see this song playing over an anime. :heheh: For me the delivery of "Jeremy" is just way darker, intense and full of emotion. You really feel Eddie put himself into the role of observer and embodied the tragedy of the song. Now I know it can be seen on the flip side and people will see that intimacy of the vocalist going through that emotion as camp. I just love how Eddie builds the intensity as he tells the story. The vocals in the BOC song are more over the top and are an interesting approach to the subject matter. I do like the piano melody and chorus to J.C. but I still feel the impact of Jeremy every time I hear it! :cheers2

The comparison with Jesus Christ's resurrection had never occurred to me, DKW. I'll never hear it in the same way again. You learn something every day!
