I would say Dark Side of the Moon changed me in many ways as a person. I was a young guy around 20 years old, and I had never heard anything that approached that, either musically or lyrically. I guess I must have bored a lot of people to death telling them they had to listen to it

No. Songs from all sorts of artists lent perspective on various subjects in my life. An album's worth? I don't believe one particular one has.

I wasn't happy when LG was spilling out the facts about Cat Stevens. But I'm glad he has been able to come back and perform and still sound great, I could never get tired of his music.

It was worse when backstabbing media were knifing Pete Seeger in the back after he passed away, I had to go to the New York Times online just to read a non-biased story of Pete Seeger's legacy. I almost wished they had the Guillotine for those who published their trash.

I'd have to say yes to this. When I first "discovered" rock music when I was in my early teens, I completely embraced the rock 'n roll lifestyle. I must have been a complete prat to my parents and teachers. Fortunately the more extreme behaviour wore thin later in life and today I'm just a regular guy.

I don't remember what I said about Cat Stevens...except the part about him giving up the lifestyle of a famous musician and returning to the Middle East and ended up as a beggar for a while. He seems to have come full circle, I'd call that period in his life a "walkabout".

Another very important album for me was Deep Purple's "Machine Head", like DSOTM it introduced me to the world of hard rock/heavy metal music which I still love to this day. But it did not lead me into a lifestyle change either, I listened to Machine Head before playing sports to get psyched up.

I think that was the crux of it particularly the beggar thing being hard to swallow, though it's well sourced as you said and I even heard it from the Man himself. It became worse when he was forced to leave America for being a Terrorist? but I don't think you said that.

I'd forgotten about that part, him being deported from the US, I think he would be happier back home anyway. Nobody knows where life will take them, in Cat Steven's case his journey has been fascinating after achieving fame and fortune at a young age to give it all away and search for a deeper meaning is something I can respect, but not to the point of becoming a beggar that will always mystify me.
