Have you ever heard of a '60s group called DREW?

There was a group @ 1965 called DREW that released an LP with the song "There Is No One Like My Baby" (not the Crystals song), which had different lyrics but was set to Dylan's "Spanish Harlem Incident" . . . I sold the LP long ago and have never been able to confirm anything about the group or song. Fortunately, I have a copy of the song that I recorded onto cassette, then transferred to CD and now to MP3.

Just curious if anyone has ever heard of them or the song. The internet has come up empty.

No, though given I'm a fan of The Byrds which did a cover of Dylan's "Spanish Harlem Incident" on their 1965 "Mr. Tambourine Man" debut album, that sounds fascinating.

Does DREW stand for something? I thought perhaps the 1st letter of the band members name, that would be cool!

Okay, I found the song on YouTube, Great Stuff! It's just called "Like My Baby"

Very Byrdish!

Okay, according to the Riot on Sunset Strip Soundtrack album, the performer is Drew Ne'emia.

EDIT:Well actually I got that name from Google's info from their track listing,. On the Riot on Sunset Strip Soundtrack album, they only have the name "Drew" on it.

Thanks for the very thorough reply & song link ! No wonder I couldn't find the track -- I had the wrong title ("There Is No One Like My Baby") and didn't realize it was from the RIOT ON SUNSET STRIP soundtrack . . . I never noted this info., so I assumed it was a truly rare LP -- and that explains why this is the only song I saved from the (non-existent) Drew LP !

Yes, it is a real Byrds sound-alike and obviously a Dylan "rip-off" (I say that in a very appreciative way) . . . I was a Byrds fan-club member in the late '60s and still have the McGuinn "specs" . . .

Thanks again for clearing up this decades-long mystery for me !

Yeah sometimes giving Google too much information will throw it a curveball. I didn't know what the song was called though just thought if I give it "Like My Baby"+"Drew", it might pay off.
Likewise I wasn't familiar with Riot on Sunset Strip, I had a play of the track following Drews and discovered a similar thing going on with that, I'm unsure what the original song is though, it's a Bluesy number with Lyrics being changed. The Yardbirds have a similar number from their Roger the Engineer album, though the Yardbirds themselves altered lyrics, so I don't really know, though the only clue I can offer if Riot on Sunset Strip came out in 1967, Roger The Engineer I'm sure is from 1966.

Getting back to the Drew song, members from the Byrds were involved in other projects for other artists during their time with the band and/or after leaving, so it has me wondering if this is another track member(s) were involved with or if Gene Clark (which was influenced by Dylan) has clanged the lyrics around from the Spanish Harlem Incident though still crediting Dylan.

I also tried looking for that but had no luck using the wrong title.
Decent little slice of jangle pop ,,,,, the two known bands in the film were The Standells and Chocolate Watchband.
The whole film if anyone wants to watch it.
