Re: Guns N Roses

They were one of my favourite bands, original and qualified. But Axl has just ruined it. The last GNR is not really my taste, sadly. :nw:

I like Guns and Roses and don't give a hoot about what anyone else thinks.

Appetite is one of the best rock albums of all time. its hard to deny that no matter how any one feels about Axl.

Agreed. Though I support Axl as a performer regardless of what he does outside of music, which is the way it should be.

Also I still say "Chinese Democracy" is a much better album than most people give it credit for.

Re: ****ing Guns N Roses

slash is one of the best gitaurist ever

Nah I don't think so. I think he's probably a decent enough composer, but as a player, his technique is horrible. So horrible that if you play Appetite for Destruction in the headphones, you can clearly hear the producer doubling up his tracks on almost all of the songs in order to make up for the sloppy play. I mean, like, Mr. Brownstone is one of my favorite songs of all time and you can hear all this weird shit when you ignore the bass line that Matt plays to hold down the whole song. Same thing on Welcome to the Jungle (which, as a song, kicks your ass and mine, both) and Paradise City. One of the FEW tracks that came out right was Sweet Child o' Mine.

Guitar overdubs are nothing uncommon, especially in those days. But it was usually done to back up the solo, or some other ancillary licks. Not to maintain a solid track to back up the verses.

I am no sound expert, and I am not sure what to listen for, Dairenn, but I can tell when something isn't right and has been dubbed. Maybe it is because I do use headphones and the subtle sound distinctions are more noticeable in the headphones.
