oh, I chose Hendrix.
I love all those guys but Hendrix is the Eli Whitney of Rock and Roll Guitar.
When I remember who Eli Whitney is, you'll be REAL impressed.

I have to vote for Hendrix for best quitarist. Cream was a great band though. I have been listening to N.S.U. alot lately. My family thinks I'm nuts when I start singing it.

The only time I'm happy
is when I play my guitar.

Actually they have always thought I was crazy. This just reconfirms it.

take off Clapton and put Rhodes
i will never say that Clapton is overrated, but to me he was more of an awesome guitar solo player. the dude could bust out some bada$$ solos like on the acoustic Layla. But Randy Rhodes in just two albums with Ozzy I think showed more talent than Clapton has shown for forty years. Don't take this to the heart some of you older dudes who think Clapton is at the heart of the rock/blues revolution, maybe it's just my age.

I'll go with Hendrix. I can't believe we've got a list here that includes Ron Wood but not Terry Kath.
Good point. I have to agree with that. I like Ron Wood and all but he's not exactly in the same league as Page, Hendrix and the like.

I thought Ron Wood's inclusion was some joke actually. Were they serious about that? Cukoo!
I thought it was a joke; it was obvious Ronnie is a great player at times, but his signature style (guitar-wise) is more evident on old Rod Stewart songs like "I'm Losing You" than on Stones songs.
His playing with Keith seems a lot more subtle and he weaves in licks with Keith's....it's a lot more buried than most guitar gods like Hendrix ,Page or Blackmore.I'd say Ron's top album with the Stones was Tattoo You.
I'll have to listen to some Ron's solo albums though, I'm sure there's some good guitar on those.

You know, I'm new here and I seem to be responding to threads that are 3-4 weeks old. Wassupwiddat!?!

Anyhooo,

I think that Clapton is undoubtedly the finest white British blues player, possibly ever, though not real innovative. Page, Townsend and Beck twisted your rock and roll bone in ways previously unheard of, and of course Hendrix's use of effects, both electronic and physical were nothing short of astounding.

I'm just sayin' . . . .

Wassupwiddat is that there's not a heck of a lot of posting here on a day-to-day basis. Sometimes I wish there was a lot more...sometimes I'm glad there's not, simply because of my own schedule demands.

Oooh, sorry.

Speaking of guitarists, people rarely mention my faves, the two most under-rated guitar slingers of all time, except to mention they're under-rated;
Joe Walsh
Rick Derringer
Stop, cheque please. :wtf:
