My brother HATES Land of Confusion.

He sucks because that is one of their best songs.

Re: Genesis

I first started hearing Genesis during the Phil Collins years. Actually I Can't Dance was the first Genesis song I ever heard. :lmao: After hearing music from both versions I still prefer the Phil Collins version over the Peter Gabriel version. In all honesty though I prefer the solo careers of both over the band.

Re: Genesis

Genesis...Hmmm,this could be another thread in a different section for me!! Why????
Because when my wife & I got together in 1991 I used to look through her homemade cassettes.I remember spotting her Best of Genesis tape & not seeing "Misunderstanding" or "Turn it On Again" or "Lamb Lies Down on Broadway"(so you know that there was nothing off of Nursery Cryme on there). The funny thing was Genesis was her favorite band & her best of was Abacab & after. We seen Genesis in Toronto around 1992 & it was a hell of a entertaining show. For some reason "Driving The Last Spike" was a surprise standout that night as was the duo drum solo between Phil Collins & Chester Thompson(I believe). The reason I said I could make this another thread was because other cassette "Best of's" I found of hers were by Sammy Hagar(Three Lock Box Onward), Van Halen(1984 onward),& Heart(the 80's stuff). There were a couple more but I can't remember which ones all I know is that I felt old(even though our age difference is 6 years) looking at them wondering where the songs I considered classics were! For the record we really do like a lot of the same music she just hates Johnny Thunders & Neil Young because of their whiney voices.
Getting back to Genesis I was never a big fan but I liked their stuff up to Abacab.I didn't really care for their 80's stuff at all but after seeing the concert in 1992 I became a fan of it

Re: Genesis

I saw Genesis in Miami in 1992 ... Chet & Phil were both amazing .. I was lucky as the show the next night in Tampa was cancelled because Phil had lost his voice.

I also saw Genesis in 2007 and again, it was a great show.

Re: Genesis

I'd give anything to be able to see them live! unfortunately I'm a little bit late to the party; Phil Collins apparently can't play the drums or piano anymore due to a neck injury :(

When and how did this happen? I hope he can still sing and do shows without too much discomfort.

Wikipedia said:
"In September 2009, Collins publicly declared that he can no longer play drums, due to a recent operation to repair dislocated vertebrae in his neck, that has left him unable to hold his drumsticks. He has also lost his ability to play piano."

I too hope he can still sing, it'd be a real shame if he can't play any music at all.
