Folk/Celtic Metal

Folk metal is one of my favorite genres (and its cousin viking metal, at least the more folky/melodic bands in the genre -- Tyr, Ensiferum, etc.).

One band I like a lot is Hungarian folk metal band Dalriada:







Suidakra's Conloch is probably my favorite folk metal song ever. Who can deny the awesomeness of bagpipes and metal guitar?



Heidevolk is much fun as well, probably qualifies as part viking metal part folk metal:





Lumsk does some folk metal, this is my fav of theirs:



I'm not as big a Cruachan fan as I used to be, but they're a nice Irish folk metal band:

Here's a band I really like, Mago de Oz, and they sing in Spanish. Despite that I highly recommend this album, I play it once a month or so and they are excellent, and they even do an awesome cover of the classic Kansas song "Dust in the Wind".

Their earlier stuff is more folk than the later stuff, but Elvenking is one of my favorite bands overall.

And yeah, a lot of symphonic metal bands have their "folk" moments.

Lyriel's earlier work was a little more folk than symphonic too. Pretty fine line there I guess.
