I have a couple of bands in this genre, but definitely not my area of expertise MP.

I'll be back later and post One band I hope fits this genre.;)

This genre isn't really my cup of soup, but I do know a couple bands.........OBBIE will like this band (I think). They are viking/folk metal and they do growl, squeel, and various other obnoxious noises, but the music behind the vocals is fantastic !!!

Korpiklaani - Wooden Pints

Korpiklaani - Beer Beer

NIGHTWISH - The Islander

I like Nightwish, but I have always thought of them as a gothic type metal. This song by them does fit into the Folk metal category, though.

here is another killer Nightwish song:

Yeah I just went with the Islander as the style for that one song!

Magic I HAVE that DVD!!!

At the last forum I was on I probably got about 2 people into NIGHTWISH...they're like my favorite band of today (well since '98)!!

It's great to see a little love for them right out of the gate.

Ghost Love Score is a stunning piece of work. I like Tarja better but the Annette version has not bothered me.

And to represent the USA in this genre:

Agalloch

Falling Snow

Fir Above Ice Below

Agolloch is a more progressive folk metal, which appeals to me more than the viking/celtic stuff.
