Well...who is the best rock band led by a female?

My vote: Heart

Ann Wilson's voice is powerful.

Greatest female band whose inspiration is the greatest rock band in history: Led Zeppelin.

Heart was a great band. My favorite Female group would probably be The Supremes. Do They Supremes really qualify as a band though? Since they do not play instruments I would guess not, but they had alot of great songs. My favorite song from Heart is Dreamboat Annie. Don't worry about no other replies. Some of us have old fingers and it takes us awhile to reply.

i love heart and the pretenders. (i do dig the supremes, but they're not really after my classic rock heart of hearts.)

can we count fleetwood mac? i think we should be able to, if we can count heart. definitely part chick-ridden, heavily chick influenced.

cocteau twins. i love elizabeth's voice.

the go gos *were* fun. so were the bangles.

garbage has some primo stuff. so do the cranberries.

the runaways... they really sucked overall, joan and lita needed to cook for awhile, but they were still symbolically important to moi as a teenage chick then.

what's that band fom kill bill? mwhahaha.

i think my definition of female bands might be too loose.

b 52s... gotta include them.

Lots of great bands listed. I would like to add:

Concrete Blonde - Johnette Napolitano is just an awesome artist.
Indigo Girls
Sleater-Kinney
Rilo Kiley
Jefferson Airplane - Grace Slick was awesome!!!

Also have to admit Heart has always been an all-time fave. When Dreamboat Annie hit the airwaves when I was in high school, I found a new role model. Between Ann and Nancy Wilson and Stevie Nicks in Fleetwood Mac, I had a whole slew of female idols to want to emulate. :)
