Re posting Diagonal- Amon.....seems to have gone missing on the other post.
They have 4 lps....they all mix retro with new sounds in a nice eclectic manner
Thanks Doug, I'm trying to get them on Vinyl.... but proving costly. (last time I received a large UFO boxed set, the postal Dept want a fat payment also!)

Pink Floyd, Yes, Rush, Kansas, Genesis, Supertramp, Jethro Tull are the progressive rock bands I listen to most often. Also The Moody Blues.
Where does Electric Light Orchestra land? Is art rock or orchestral rock a part of progressive rock? Were they a progressive pop rock band?

As a guy that danced to Heatwave in a Ramones T.shirt and leathers - I don't qualify to answer.... and seldom examine such things... An autonomous collective thing goes on with me.
(Showdown is mega though!)

I only do cd these days on the moden prog/rock bands...cheaper and easier to get. I still collect old vinyl original press at the record shops on older prog and classic rock.

Gotta go with Rush, Some early Genesis, ELP, Floyd, Marillion, Tull. I listen to a bit of Dream Theatre and Mystery and i'm trying to hunt down more Saga on LP. Only have one so far.

@Xanadu2112 decent list of prog bands. Do you like Dream Theater? How about Fates Warning? Or Queensryche?

Definitely the obvious , Mindcrime, Empire. Keen to dig up Rage For Order. I do like Dream Theater but more the Portnoy era. Fates Warning I’ve never checked out. I like Kings X “Gretchen Goes To Nebraska” but haven’t head much else. What Fates Warning can yo recommend?

If you like Empire, I'd recommend Parallels.
As far as MP Era DT, either Perfect Symmetry or A Pleasant Shade Of Gray (which I personally feel is a bit bloated)
Theories Of Flight, released back in 2016, is an outstanding latter career album.

The early stuff, with John Arch on vocals, is a bit more metal leaning, and his vocals are um..challenging. lol

A Pleasant Shade of Gray is a beautiful album….bloated or not. :)

If you like a more NWOBHM (Maiden) feel, then start at the beginning with Night On Brocken.
