As a young kid in the 60's I can tell you without a doubt that four of my favorite albums were:

    Beatles '65 - The Beatles
    Help! - The Beatles
    The Young Rascals (1966)
    Headquarters - The Monkees

And then as I got a little older:

    The Doors
    Strange Days - The Doors
    The Beatles (White Album)
Waiting for the Sun - The Doors
    Led Zeppelin I
    Abbey Road - The Beatles

Making a 60's top 10 album list is such a cruel task.

It almost hurts to relegate many amazing albums like Bringing it All Back Home, Led Zeppelin, Rubber Soul, Magical Mystery Tour, Hot Rats, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Forever Changes, Revolver [not too much for this one haha], Blonde On Blonde, Aftermath, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Beggars Banquet, The Allman Brothers Band, etc but here's you asked for:

    10. In The Court Of The Crimson King - King Crimson
    9. Led Zeppelin II - Led Zepellin
    8. Electric Ladyland - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
    7. The Doors - The Doors
    6. Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience (US Edition)
    5. The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed
    4. Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere - Neil Young
    3. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan
    2. Abbey Road - The Beatles
    1. The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico

Very definitive lists, but as it was mentioned before,a daunting task indeed:
    (No particular order)
    Blonde On Blonde-Dylan
Sgt. Pepper-Beatles(of course,it's hard to leave off a few other fab ones!)
    Forever Changes-Love
...And Nico-Velvet Undergound. The influences of THIS one are still rippling today!
    Are You Expreienced-Hendrix
    Doors
Pet Sounds-Decent tunes, but this selection is mostly for technical reasons and the fact that it did influence the sound of "Pepper".
    Let It Bleed
Zeppelin II-really not so much as a 60's album, but rather because of its monumental influence on the coming decade's hard rock explosion
Maybe this one's a bit of a dark horse but...
Simon and Garfunkel's-"Parsley" effort.Wonderfully indicative of the period's benevolent and insightful spirits
