Wings, Toys and Rocks is the Holy Trinity of American rock and roll. I'll take rocks out of the three. Live Bootleg sounds like it was recorded in a coffee can. Except for the archival versions of Ain't Got You and Mother Popcorn, I think it's one of the worst live albums ever.

Agree with the entire statement.

With their 1st album and the above 3, I'm wondering whether or not any group debuted so strongly.

Ok....so this was released in 1980, but all of the songs were recorded during the 70's and it's my favorite Aerosmith release soo.....

This album was Aerosmith's best selling album, with Toys in the Attic right behind it.

Ouch! I think "Live! Bootleg" is a good representation of a live recording without enhancements. And you have to take into consideration of the arena the recordings were made in, the acoustics might have sucked back in the 70's :D

^^^I second that ouch! I agree with Magic, and also remember that some live recordings are very much over produced, dubbed, edited usually by the record companies. I don't remember this with Live! Bootleg, imo. Quite a many artists don't like the particular final cuts of their songs, but I believe the record company usually has the final say in regard to the final cuts, and the overall production, too.

This record stands out for it's lack of post production. Mostly because the band was so messed up at the time that they weren't talking to the record company or each other. Their management, Leber Krebs, rushed the album out with little to no involvement from the band.

But if that's what a live record with no overdubbs sounds like, then bring on the overdubbs.:heheh:

It's a toss up between Rocks and Attic, love the 1st. 4 but the band was really hitting it on those two.

Of the 70s albums I love the debut self titled.
