Eddie Van Halen is a good choice LXA...even though many people decry his influence on so many up and coming "Shredders". The first time I heard the debut play in the record store I bought a copy right then and there.

There so many incredible guitar players in the 80's. there's no way I could go through them all or even narrow it down to the best of the best of the best. Easily, my favorite guitar player of the 80s, as well as my all-time favorite guitar player would be none other than the Screamin' Demon himself, Mr George Lynch (aka: Mr Scary):

Has to be Stuart Adamson from Big Country for me. A truly brilliant band and so original. No band sounds like them - they are truly unique.
