Some people may not think of think of The Grateful Dead when it comes to the 80's, but here's my story...

In the 80's, while other people were into Michael Jackson, Culture Club, Kajagoogoo, Men Without Hats, Madonna and Prince - me and my friends got lost in the world of The Grateful Dead. Listening the Dead's music and going to lots and lots of Grateful Dead concerts through out that whole decade. It was our way to escape the 'plastic modern synthesized pop' music with the 'eurobeat', as we unpleasantly seen and heard it.

In the 80's (unlike the 90's) - it was uncool and not 'in fashion' to be a ''Dead Head''. But I wasn't just a ''Dead Head'' - me and my friends were more into the Dead's MUSIC than living the lifestyle. Sure we were long haired freaks, but we didn't travel around the country from show to show. We were still in High School, then after that we had jobs and some of us went to college. But every time The Grateful Dead played the New York Tri-state area, we went to most of all the shows. We'd do 3 or 4 shows in a row. And since the Grateful Dead toured three times a year (Spring, Summer and Fall) I seen them around 50 times in the 80's. (In total, 75 Dead shows give or take, including the 90's)

The Grateful Dead (musically) got through the 80's.

But, I don't hate 80's music. I'm not a 80's basher. The 80's were a fun time. It's just I wasn't caught up in the world of pop music.

During the decade of the 80's, I remember Led Zeppelin still being very popular. Most of the crowd I hung with, in and out of High School were Zeppelin heads. In the 80's Led Zeppelin was still the rage. I remember watching the Led Zeppelin reunion at Live Aid. They were disappointing and Jimmy Page was wasted out of his mind, but they still were the highlight and the talk of Live Aid for days and weeks after.

Being a teen in the 70's and 80's, I was raised on rock. And that's what I listened to.

Here's a list of some artists and bands that were popular in the 80's that I listened to .And yes, a lot of these (not all) bands were from the 60's and 70's, but they also put out some good and decent albums in the 1980s....

I can honestly, evenly say that a person could offer me any musical group from the 80s, and I'm sure to dig it.

I love the 80s, honestly. It's probably my favourite decade for music.
