Being a prog rock fan I investigated prog metal bands some time ago but found them a bit too much metal for me.....though I do like some Symphony X , Dream Theater, and some Threshold and Riverside.
About the only thing close for me these days that I spin is old Rush lps.

This might be an interesting link for fans of prog metal

@dr wu the whole metal genre isn’t for everyone. I just keep thinking about Christopher Lee…..he was the last person I would guess loved heavy metal. It can be enjoyable, when you find your niche.
I said the same thing a few years ago, and a great CRF member informed me that a lot of heavy metal isn’t much heavier than Deep Purple or Iron Butterfly. It is all about what you perceive “heavy” to be.
My favorite metal is symphonic, which quite a few prog metal bands incorporate into their music, but I am still exploring.
