I like music that is aggressive and I like music that is soft and melodic! When a band does both very well then I'm a happy Sooty!

The goal of this thread is to pick any band you like and show the two extremes! Take a band and first post the heaviest (or one of the heaviest) songs you think they have and then below it post almost it's polar opposite like a particular ballad, acoustic, piano piece or just generally quieter mellowed out song. Let's see what kind of extremes we can get from bands! You can repeat bands if you want as long as you use different examples as everyone might think of something different!

I'd say for me, The Used, would be a great start! There whole tempo changes within just one song nonetheless from one song to another! I'll take two from their first album!

Fisha, Fisha, Fisha!!!! Never play by the rules buddy! :D

I don't agree that Nirvana pioneered that though! They used it but they were far from the pioneers of it IMO!

Anywho, this wasn't meant to be a debate thread! :heheh: I blame you and your laziness in not posting links Fisha! :lmao:

I could spend all day filling up this thread, and I'm going to start it off with some Muse I think:

It's not laziness it's the fact no one would watch them. And if they didn't pioner it it definately became a signature of their music.

I would've! :D I know the songs but it would've been cool to see what you consider their loudest song and which is there softest!

Also, you are right! It was a staple of their sound no doubt! :grinthumb

Within the blues and roots genre alone, Eric Clapton has gone from the heavy (for the time) drug fueled rendition of Crossroads in the late 60's.

all the way to this mellow version of "Autumn Leaves" in his latest album.

I like both, but that's a reasonable range, particularly for a blues guitarist :D
