Etta James, whose assertive, earthy voice lit up such hits as "The Wallflower," "Something's Got a Hold on Me" and the wedding favorite "At Last," has died, according to her longtime friend and manager, Lupe De Leon. She was 73.
She died from complications from leukemia with her husband, Artis Mills, and her sons by her side, De Leon said.
She was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010, and also suffered from dementia and hepatitis C. James died at a hospital in Riverside, California. She would have turned 74 Wednesday.

Magic will be sad, she's a big fan of Etta James...:(

I remember something a few days back about her being in a bad way so this isn't really a shock, but yet another musical legend is gone.

Sad news, though I'm surprise Etta lived so long considering all the years of heroin and hard drugs use she did, but she got herself clean, and what a fantastic soulful voice she had.

Very beautiful voice. A real original in many respects.

Rest in peace Ms. James.

I saw this on the news today. Very sad. I am a huge Etta James fan, I have close to her entire discography.
