Also,Elton's tremendous social status in England is way too big for him to stop performing at least there. Not only has he been knighted, but was a very close personal friend of the late former Princess Diana..........

You know I could are less about the Royal family and all the Knighthoods etc. that are still part of the upper echelon of British society, I had some sympathy for Diana but after all she made the mistake of marrying into the Battenburg family with all their....defects.(Charles shows the genetic inheritance of his ancestors in spades, the result of marrying in your bloodline way too much.:nw:)

Back to Elton, I thought it was a nice gesture to dedicate his classic song "Candle In The Wind" to Diana after the tragedy but it almost put me off listening to that song forever...fortunately a lot of time has passed so I can play Yellow Brick Road again and not skip over that track.

There actually is no Queen or Princes in England really. It's NOT a monarchy. It's a socialist democracy.I mean, they're a powerful family who do many great things for the people of their nation, but England is NOT controlled by them. All that is in the hands of Parliament and the Prime Minister. And all the pictures and hoopla on TV everytime one of them has a baby. It's newsworthy, but whether or not one of the males could technically become king is quite meaningless. This is NOT the 17th or 18th century.Get with the times people, get with the times..............

Same here LG. I have been skipping the song for years, but listened to the album the other day and did not feel the urge to skip.

Really I disagree strongly with you about the Monarchy HGH. :nw:

When one of her castles burned down the wealthiest woman in the world that would be Queen Elizabeth didn't want to spend any of her wealth (That would be in the Billions of Pounds) to fix it, instead she asked the government to do that for her.(I'm not sure what happened in the end whether they did spend taxpayers money to repair it or if people donated money freely to help out?) Two sets of rules obviously one for those with the gold and another for the rest of us. Granted they don't exercise control over foreign affairs and are figureheads but from my perspective the monarchy in England is trying to hang on the glory that was once the British Empire it's as simple as that.

I don't hate the Monarchy but I don't really support any of those old institutions any longer that are the ultimate example of the class system. It's time for that old boys club to go the way of the dinosaurs.

Watching a documentary about the most successful promoter in the music business right now opened my eyes about a lot of things that go on behind the scenes in music/entertainment.

Remember the Police tour...back in 2007 I think it was. The first tentative conversations between Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland involved a lot things including if there would be any interest in a world wide Police reunion tour. So when they hired Fogel to promote their tour they were apprehensive about whether tickets would sell or if people had forgotten about them. Turns out that not only were people excited they ended up playing in football stadiums to meet the demand. The funny part is within hours of rehearsing to get ready Copeland and Sting were already at each others' throats, they have never gotten along and making it through the full length of the tour itself was a minor miracle and I don't think there will be another Police tour ever again.

What's this got to do with Elton you ask?? Well Sting only wanted to put the Police together again to make stacks of money because his wife had almost spent his entire fortune so he needed to replenish his bank account.:oyea:

So like Bob D, Foreverblue and SDM have mentioned in the end it's as much about money as it is performing.

Well it's never been a secret that Elton has a lavished life. I think I read somewhere that he spends $15,000 (or something) a year in flowers.

Yeah he's always been flamboyant Cosmic, but perhaps now that he's happy with his partner and has an adopted son he has changed his ways a little, anything is possible.:D

I think his two little sons are his own (or his partners) by a surrogate.

Thanks for the information Sunny, I didn't pay too much attention to Elton's personal life when he finally found someone he could raise a family with, I just assumed they adopted their kids.
