Pete Townsend appeared in a pre-recorded radio interview on a BBC radio 4 'Arts programme' called 'This Cultured Life' on Saturday 24th May between 7:15-8:00 pm (London time) interviewed by John Wilson a radio music journalist for the BBC.
The first 15-20 minutes of the interview Pete was recalling his early childhood and life with his (hated) aunty in Margate (a seaside town in Kent) and his school days and picking up the guitar after which he talked about music and The Who more. One comment that he made was until this day Roger Daltrey still regards The Who as "HIS BAND" because Pete joined Rogers band back in 1964 which eventually changed the name to The Who. Also Pete said him and Roger don't see eye to eye on various subjects but there isn't a war going on between them both they get along ok on a day to day level. When John Wilson asked Pete what his all time favourite Who song was Pete replied without hesitation Love Reigns Over Me off the Quadrophenia album (1973) and saying that he has always liked that song. Finally the interview rounded off by Pete saying this forthcoming American tour will be THE LAST and when asked would there be a UK and European tour as well Pete didn't commit saying nothing has been mentioned about that yet. And finally Pete was asked about the future and Pete said that he is nearly 80 years old now (Roger is 81) and if he gets another 5 or 10 or 15 years if he is lucky he will still be doing music plus these days he's getting into 'dance' as well and joked that you may even see me doing 'a bit of dancing' one day if I can get my over knee sorted out ha ha..
