When I am in my cups I have a compilation album with quite a few old classics I play, I'm sure my neighbours must laugh when they hear them.:heheh:

I always liked 70's R&B/Soul, but I never really warmed up to the Disco movement. Sure there were good songs here and there, but overall it just wasn't my thing. In 1979 I went to a Christmas party that a girlfriend's work threw at a nightclub in Hollywood. I have to admit that although the particular music played over the PA system that night wouldn't exactly have been my first choice, it was pretty cool to be in such a grown-up, adult atmosphere with an open bar and dancing to the likes of KC & The Sunshine Band, Donna Summer, Chic, The Commodores, Wild Cherry, The Silver Connection and probably even The Stones' "Miss You" thrown in for good measure. :heheh:

There were two FM radio stations here in L.A. that played R&B/Soul/Dance/Disco as the decade progressed, and I would check them out occasionally, but at the beginning of the 80's it was evident the "No Disco" backlash was in full-force. At about the same time Steve Dahl's "No Disco" bonfire was taking place in centerfield at the White Sox game, I think Nikki Sixx was lighting himself on fire at The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. :D

^^What you said about the party you attended and having fun with the old songs is exactly the same as I feel. I never bought any disco albums when it was popular, but anyone who went "Clubbing" back then got exposed to all the big name bands.

I would bet I have about 20 disco songs on assorted compilation albums, and like I told Magic, they take me back in time and are just fun to listen to once in a while.

I wouldn't mind going back to the wild dance parties we had back then...disco balls and all. Those were the happy days.

Picked this one up a couple of days ago, mostly for one song not the edited radio version but the original album version.

Just like playing this kind of stuff once in a blue moon, usually in the dead of winter when I want to get rid of the blahs and have a few laughs.:grinthumb
