Re: The Official Coldplay Thread

^^I am rather surprised that Coldplay generates such an effect on many people, that either like them or can't stand them. I found "Rush..." to be a relaxing enjoyable listen, the vocals were solid and the band tight.

Then again all my friends in here Know how little respect I have for Oasis, so I guess it's the old different strokes for different folks adage.:D

I will play X&Y tomorrow morning and be back.

Chris Martin is one of my absolute favorite vocalists. And I believe Rush of Blood To The Head was the first album I heard from them as well, but I don't remember really.

Certain posts have been removed and are being reviewed by the mod team. The offending user has been dealt with. As for the thread, let's just keep it on topic. And if you don't like a band, please give a legitimate reason as to why, and if you do like the band, that is great as well. Educated responses go a long way, and adding videos always helps as well.

Now, let's talk about Coldplay.

Re: The Official Coldplay Thread

There is one song my dad forced me to get and burn on his compilation CD. I liked it, forgotten, remembered, listened again and like it again. :bonk:

Video is just brilliant.

^^^ Yeah that is a great video!! I'm pleased you posted it because I couldn't for the life of me remember which song that video was made for.

I'm going to pick myself a copy of Viva La Vida up and give it a go.

You'll enjoy it I think. It's one of my favorite albums. Granted, their older releases are great too, but Viva La Vida just has a much more fun feel to it in my opinion.

I think you will definitely enjoy Viva la Vida. And Prime's right, it is definitely more fun and upbeat.

I prefer the Parachutes album above anything else Coldplay has done. I lost some respect for them for ripping Joe Satriani's "If I Could Fly. If you don't believe they ripped off Satriani check out this video

^^Isn't that settled now Greg?

If I remember correctly Satch filed a lawsuit over that song, haven't heard anything about it for a while now.

Not to go wildly off topic, but considering the sheer amount of "sampling" going on these days in other genres, with the blessing of the artists involved seems like people made a lot of the Coldplay situation.

They did not. Eventually the realization emerged that a bunch of other songs -- even many that predated Satriani's -- were quite similar, including one by Cat Stevens. The suit was dismissed almost 2 years ago by a Los Angeles judge at the request of both parties. The parties may have reached a settlement outside the court but that is not known and is just speculation. Each party had to pay its own trial fees. So please stop fueling this unfounded accusation.
