Re: Blues Traveler

Wow he sure did lose weight. That is dangerous surgery though, a friend of mine had to get it done for medical reasons not obesity years ago. His biggest complaint was the size of meals he had to limit himself to...about a small muffins worth of food at one sitting that is all the room he had left in his stomach after the surgery.

The more I listen to this band the more I like them. Found a gem the other day as well, 4 legendary blues harmonica players on a Telarc recording. Have to give that one a spin ASAP.

Re: Blues Traveler

Blues Traveler is definitely one of my favorite bands... Oh I'll add, from the 90's.

Their first few albums were pure jams. Then the "Hook" happened. Now I won't equate what happened to BT with the Hook to let's say ...J.Geils Band's "Centerfold" but... I'm sure one could. I've interpreted Hook as an explanation from Popper that if they don't put out a hip 3 minute diddy they are going to starve or worse yet get a 9 to 5.

Blues Traveler has one of the best break-up songs of all time... (Helped me through a rough one... or made it worse)

Now most break-up songs are geared towards chicks. Another of my favorite bands to come out of the 90's, The Bloodhound Gang, IMO have the best male break-up song of all time.

Re: Blues Traveler

I was just listening to the first album and came across what I think is one of Popper's best harmonica solos:D

Re: Blues Traveler

The 4th studio album, and their breakthrough album, "Four", was released in 1994. This album contains their hit song "Run-Around".

As mentioned in the posts above, "Hook", was also another mainstream song off this album. This album went multi-platinum and definitely saved the band from starvation.

Freedom, a great jam from the Four album

Re: Blues Traveler

Four was my first BT experience:grinthumb

Obviously, the big hit, Runaround is awesome.. I don't know any other song that can sound as cool, all the way through, with one chord progression..:heheh:

Blues Traveler is awesome. I have had Four since I was a kid, listening to Mulling it over from Live from the fall.

They were incredible:

They just released a new album yesterday (june 26). I have previewed the album and it is pretty good. Reminiscent of their early stuff.
