What stood out the most to me in the biography story was how the 3 brothers talked about how stale their music had become by early 70's. They all 3 agreed that they were pumping out useless albums, one after the other.

Then, upon a suggestion by Eric Clapton, they moved to 461 Ocean Boulevard in Florida in 1975. This is where they discovered the art of falsetto and re-invented themselves into stardom again.

Yes that move to America was the beginning of a new phase
in their career.... a second wind....

Should nt Saturday Night Fever .... really be in this list ?
that album must have made a ton of money !

Maybe ... Spirits having flown ... was one of their best albums ?

I believe this was considered a Movie Soundtrack which also contained songs by other artists.

This album is in the top sellers having an RIAA certification of 15x platinum (which means that over 15 million copies have been sold in the USA alone)

Not a big fan of the movie but I do like the Soundtrack.:D

I have 4 Bee Gees albums now, I remember my friend picked up a compilation vinyl album in the early 70's which he raved on about but left me bored frankly. I mean the songs weren't terrible or anything but I never bothered collecting them.

Mom bought a copy of "Main Course" and I enjoyed that record and it remains my favorite of their discography.

I suppose in the end the Bee Gees were contributing songs to
the movie .... but their songs were so hot, they could have made
the basis of a great Bee Gees Disco album.

It's amusing Silverstar if you play Old disco era Bee Gees music for someone, then play their earlier material it's such a contrast between the two.

Unlike many of my contemporaries, I still enjoy a few disco albums and had a lot of fun in the 80's.:D

Someone said that Mo was the best musician and
even played Mellotron .... ! that secret weapon of the sixties
( John Lennon had one at home )
it was the basis of a lot of the Moody Blues songs.

There's a charm about Bowies first LP

( released on the same day as Sgt Pepper )

Its basically Bowie singing his own songs with an orchestra
backing him.

A lot of the Bee Gees albums are like that... 3 guys
fronting a huge orchestra.

The Beatles got sucked into all that too... ie the harps on She's
leaving home. .... the orchestration on Eleanor Rigby etc.

They finally ditched all that and got back to their roots on
the white album.

LG, have you heard any of the music off the Bee Gee's last album? This album is a huge contrast to even their early stuff. They do revisit their roots on this album, but also add some new sounds. I liked the direction they were going with their music, but it was cut short by Mo's passing.

Album title track, This is Where I Came In

Voice In The Wilderness

Too bad Maurice is gone, I do believe he was the force that kept the Bee Gee's making music all those years..............
