These 3 brothers had a ton of musical success in their 40 odd years in the music business. They began performing and recording together in the early 60's and continued until 2003, when Maurice passed away.

In the 60's, the Bee Gees were successful as a "soft rock" group, then in the 70's they exploded as a major player in the Disco scene.

The brother's Gibb had an extremely tight 3-part harmony to their vocals, unmistakable voices. They originally began as a 5 person band in the 60's, but after numerous personal issues and problems amongst band members, they fell apart. The three brothers decided to try to salvage their careers, and continued together in 1970, recording a series of songs that hit the top of the charts in the USA. By the mid 70's the Bee Gees were topping the charts week after week with their Disco hits.

I think most of us remember them as Disco artists, but I also like their soft rock side and their soul music :)

Here is a couple of their hits from Austrailia in 1964:

Re: Bee Gees

I'm not much of a fan of their 60's music other than maybe a song here and there. However, I do like a lot of what they did in the 70s. I'm not talking about just the disco tunes (which I love, btw), but even the early to mid 70's. A very talented band with some great harmonies.

Re: Bee Gees

I don't mind them, I have an excellent double CD compilation with their early songs and their 70' and 80's hits as well.

I prefer the Beach Boys though when I am in the mood for this kind of music.

Re: Bee Gees

Their sound of the early 60's was along the lines of trying to imitate the Beatles....

Re: Bee Gees

I hate to admit it but years ago I owned a Barbra Streisand laser disc of one of her rare concerts and one of the highlights was when Barry come onstage to sing a duet with her...

I'm going to play some Dokken right now to reset the balance...:heheh:

nothing wrong with that. Well, nothing wrong with that highlight. Owning Babs on laser disc....? Might need to see a professional for that one.
