For me, it's The Ramones and The Clash.

In the 90's, looking for good new music, somehow I found The Clash and The Ramones.

Yes, I know both bands started out in the 70's, but in the late 70's and the whole decade of the 80's, I couldn't get into them.

In the 90's not impressed by grunge at all, I was forced to go back in time, and rediscover The Clash and Ramones.

Not that I ever really hated them, I remember hearing a few good songs by each band, but ''punk'' wasn't my thing at the time.

Actually, The Ramones and Clash are as ''punk'' as I get.

I had a chance to see The Clash in concert once, when they opened for The Who, but me and the crowd I was with, partied outside while they played. ''Baba O' Teenage Wasteland'' and all that good stuff.

Today, I love both bands.

Also, went back and gave some grunge bands another listen, and still can't get into grunge.

Our tastes change as we mature. I never thought I would be a metal addict but here I am.

When the video for She Don't Use Jelly came out in the early 90's by The Flaming Lips I did'nt think nothing of it and thought that the dude with orange hair could'nt sing and that the band would'nt go nowhere. Years later (I think it was 2006) The Flaming Lips performed on Austin City Limits on PBS and their performance/songs blew me away and I felt like kicking myself for not buying their albums and I got Transmissions and listened to She Don't Use Jelly again and found that it was'nt as bad as I made it out to be years ago. I sure glad that I was wrong about them not getting far. I love their music!

How shocking would it be if I said that I used to hate Dream Theater? Because I did back when I first heard them.

I never liked Cheap Trick until fairly recently. I've tried listening to their stuff over the years and while I didn't "hate" them by any means, I just never could understand the devout following that they have had for years. They had some songs that I liked, but not many. In recent months I've found a new appreciation for them. I'm certainly not going to consider myself a "fanboy" by any means, but I do have a much more open mind for their music and have found some tunes that are actually pretty fun that weren't beat to death on the radio.

That's the one that comes to mind for me right now. I know there are others, so will add when I think of them.

Same here, for Cheap Trick. Never hated them. I remember liking ''Live at Budokan'' and the songs on they played on the radio, but never dove deep into Cheap Trick. But, nowadays I have all the 70's albums and a few 80's albums.

Well I will give Cheap Trick another try after all that. I have a compilation. I have a very good friend who eats, drinks, and sleeps Cheap Trick, so maybe I am missing something.

ELO is another band that many years ago I just didn't care for. They had a couple of songs that I liked but overall, they didn't do much for me. Over the past few years I've discovered a lot more of their stuff. Some that I knew was them and found a new appreciation for, other stuff that I guess I never paid attn to. I'm far from an ELO expert, but I do like a lot more of their music now than I did even 5-10 yrs ago.
