I would not place Phil Collins in the pop genre, he is rock.

Although i lost touch with Queen pretty much after News Of The World - this at the time got me re-ignited.

Ian Paice's skin and stick work was great on this offering...especially as the world at the time was obsessed with a skinny guy with flowers hanging out his ass shouting 'Meat Is Murder'.

    Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers.

Things were shifting fast...guys with flowers hanging out their holes dressed in Gloria Vandebilt..but these brought some order and put manners back in the music world:

Bryan Adams - Run To You.

Whitesnake - Here I Go Again.

    ZZ Top - Tush.

This band quickly grew from pop pap to grown up music:

    Talk Talk - Talk Talk.

Talk Talk - Living In Another World.

    The zenith for me...

Talk Talk - I Believe In You.

As a 'serious' rock dude I am not a big lover of 80s 'pop' music but 2 songs that I do like from 1985 are-

    1. Phil Collins & Phil Bailey- Easy Lover

    2. Tears For Fears- Everybody Wants To Rule The World
