Its bizarre having got into Anathema by their newest couple of releases and then to hear Serenades and think how this band really did evolve. The doomy sound of this album is very simplistic but pretty damn enjoyable.

We're Here Because We're Here is a masterpiece. Apparently Steven Wilson had some part in mixing this album too. I think they need to do a proper collaboration.

just got my Anathema reissues from omega order so tight !!!!!:cheering. Judgment is my fave but the media book is real cool especially with the dvds.

^ Just got it myself, downloaded in high-resolution FLAC files.

While I felt Distant Satellites was a contrived copy of the amazing Weather Systems,
The Optimist
is completely new and original.

After the first listen, I love it. Atmospheric, but not sleepy.

Really, with a running time of 58:22, my only disappointment was when I noticed it was almost over.

Even though I liked Distant Satellites I agree the Optimist is better and more of a change.
