Man, looking at the gems uncovered during this year, it really makes these days pale in comparison... these days, if an album half as good as some of those came out, there'd be a massive build-up for it. You don't get stuff like this anymore :(

As a newb here on CRF, some of these threads are already chock full of my own picks but here is one from 1975, a banner year for music indeed!.

Armageddon. A bit of an underground classic. Nice slice of mid 70's hard/blues rock with touches of prog as well. The bonus is Keith Relf (his last recorded output before he was tragically electrocuted in 1976) on vocals with a generous helping of some wailing harmonica. This album was quite popular around the midwest in the late 70's, early 80's. Songs like Buzzard and Silver Tightrope were rotated right along with Black Sabbath and Rush on many local FM stations. Quite a few people owned the vinyl or 8 track.

It's a cracking good album, full of energy and texture.

i agree that 1975 was a great year for music, but i definitely think 1972 was the best, i mean how could you beat a year with...

Vol. 4 - Black Sabbath

Can't Buy a Thrill - Steely Dan

s/t - Captain Beyond

Close to the Edge - Yes

Demons and Wizards - Uriah Heep

Eat a Peach - Allman Bros

Europe 72 - The Dead

Exile on Main St. - Rolling Stones

Harvest - Neil Young

Machine Head & Made In Japan - Deep Purple

Obscured By Clouds - Pink Floyd

On the Corner - Miles Davis

Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie

Rock of Ages - The Band

St. Dominic's Preview - Van Morrison

Seventh Sojourn - Moody Blues

The Slider - T. Rex

Something/Anything? - Todd Rundgren

Thick as a Brick - Jethro Tull

i mean that is one kick ass year, it doesn't get much better, but seriously, any year in the 70's is amazing :grinthumb

Three of the all time best albums:

Physical Graffiti -- Masterpiece.

Toys In The Attic --was great, probably even a masterpiece ( too bad Aerosmith sucks now a days)

KISS Alive -- I wore that one out playing air guitar. One of the greatest live albums ever.

I wish I lived during the 70s...I have the right attitude for it :eek:hyeah:

As do I, but unless sheltered under the glam rock umbrella (which would have been A-MAZE-ING) I wouldn't have stood a chance, what with my lifestyle...

Oh boy! All the 70's were good years for music. Not only for rock but also for other genres like DISCO :grinthumb

For 1975 my top choices would be for rock:

Toys in the Attic - Aerosmith
Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin
Fly By Night - Rush
Fandango - ZZ Top
Ted Nugent - Ted Nugent
Hair of the Dog - Nazareth
Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow - Rainbow

AND since I was heavily into Funk / Disco during 1975:

Mothership Connection - Parliament
KC & The Sunshine Band - KC & The Sunshine Band
Non Stop - BT Express
Philadelphia Freedom - MFSB
Cut the Cake - Average White Band
That's the Way of the World - Earth, Wind & Fire
