Yes I am a fan of Al Stewart and though he was part of the folk movement in the 60's and the 70's I'm creating this thread for Al in the 70's forum due to his most popular hit in 1976, Year Of The Cat and Time Passages in 1978.

This man has made alot more great music before and after. Please share your photos, favorite songs, albums...or whatever memories you may have.

Hope to find some more fans. The Year Of The Al here at CRF!!

I love the album A Beach Full Of Shells that he made with ex-Wings guitarist Laurence Juber!!

Here is a live clip in 2009 of the beautiful Katherine Of Oregon!!

Great stuff man! I like Time Passages quite a bit! Vocally he sounds like another artist I just can't put my finger on! He's very Jazzy though which makes him stand out to me! :grinthumb

He's always sounded like Julian Lennon to me...or better yet, Julian was inspired by him. He's very Beatle like and Year Of The Cat was recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

He's got a Python-isque Eric Idle quality too.

Re: Al Stewart: Official Thread

I was thinking of writing a thread for Al Stewart one of these days myself.:D

Year of the Cat is the one that got me started, I bought the only copy available in the small town we were living in the day it arrived. The first time I heard the title track I Had to have the record.

I would have to check but I believe I have at least 12 of his albums, maybe more, so I'm a big fan.
