AEROSMITH: 'Rock For The Rising Sun' DVD, Blu-Ray Due In June - May 4, 2013
In March 2011, Japan was beset by a huge earthquake, a monstrous tsunami and the subsequent meltdown of the Fukushima nuclear plant. In the autumn of 2011, despite advice to the contrary, AEROSMITH brought their "Back On The Road" tour to Japan, a country with which they'd always had a special relationship. The Japanese fans came out in their droves and AEROSMITH responded with some of the finest gigs of their distinguished career.

"Rock For The Rising Sun" follows the band on that tour combining full-length live tracks with behind-the-scenes footage which is at times touching and emotional and at others humorous and insightful. More than anything else it demonstrates the Japanese fans' love affair with AEROSMITH and their music.

AEROSMITH singer Steven Tyler wrote on Facebook about the movie: "Hey, ya'll…How 'bout sum of our new movie!!! 2 start ur day or nite. Can't wait for u to see it."

"Rock For The Rising Sun" was directed by Casey Patrick Tebo, and combines live performance material with behind-the-scenes footage that shows the nation coping with the destruction. The movie is due for release on DVD and Blu-ray in June.

Check out a trailer for the film below.

Wonder if they will donate some of the proceeds to Japan Tsunami victims?

It would be a really awesome gesture if they did.

Some of the Japanese setlists were pretty awesome as far as I can remember, this could be great.

Unless I have missed it, amazingly for a band who has been around for 40 years there still hasn't been a proper full length concert video DVD of Aerosmith, ever, and I'm not convinced that this is it! It sounds more along the lines of the You Gotta Move DVD, which has interviews inbetween songs, and was more of a movie about the band with some live clips thrown in. Considering they are one of THE great live rock ' n roll bands of all time, it's a mystery why they still haven't done a video where they just start the cameras rolling when they hit the stage, and they go through to the end a couple of hours later. They could still throw in all the other stuff as 'extras' or on a second disc.

The only way you can see a complete uniterupted Aerosmith show is on YouTube with a few shows that were broadcast on TV in various countries, one of the best of which is actually also from Japan, here....

But I will still get this for sure, especially if the show was put on to try and help out in Japan.

Have you seen Texxas Jam '78 Live! I actually like the little extras they throw in with the songs :)
