Re: .38 Special

I like all of their albums. I grew up to the '80-'85-ish era (didnt hear much from them after that at the time). I have a few of their newer albums and a few years ago I got their 70's albums which are very Lynyrd Skynyrd-ish.

Re: .38 Special

Another of my favourite bands, they had two pretty decent albums before the classic albums kicked in with Rockin` Into The Night through to Tour De Force, though Strength In Numbers was very good. The subsequent albums were okay but nothing like what had preceeded them.

Don Barnes is my favourite of the two vocalists, one band I`ve not seen live.

So many great songs, here`s a few of my faves......

The Love That I`ve Lost
You Got The Deal
Robin Hood
Fantasy Girl
Hittin` And Runnin`
Caught Up In You
Chain Lightnin`
You Keep Runnin` Away
If I`d Been The One
Long Distance Affair

I'm a huge fan of Skynyrd and Special, I don't think they sound anything alike. The exception would be Skynyrd's 1991 album, which is kinda .38 Special-ish. Johnny Van Zant has a song on an early solo album called It's You, it sounds a lot like .38 Special, great tune. My fav .38 Special tune is Chain Lighning, they were the very first band I saw live.

Is that true or just an excuse for the band to get rid of a well-loved member?

Wonderful band though!

I wondered whether that given Don Barnes sings quite a lot of the material & times were tight financially, it be (admittedly skewed) logic to stop paying somebody who "merely" sang.

So many bands tour without a classic era line-up (just look at Molly Hatchett or Blackfoot) I thought might be a possibility.

Be Glad to be proven wrong though!
