It can but most albums aren't anywhere close to being that good. Most albums are nothing more than a collection of songs. In fact, most albums are a couple of good songs and a bunch of filler.- troggy

Interesting, if albums had been important in the 50's, I wonder if you'd dig the sound as much. The rise in the importance of albums was one of the driving forces that changed the production techniques you like so much. Nobody said that you shouldn't be biased anyway. If you like the music of a particular era for its overall sound or even if it just brings back fond memories, there's no disgrace in that kind of bias.- troggy

That is fair and I don't really expect many folks here to share my view. When you talk about someone like B.B. King, do you like his 50's material or more his more recent stuff? Like rock and roll, there's a pretty big difference how blues sounded in the 1950's compared to more modern blues...- troggy

You most definitely didn't have to be there. The music of that era is great regardless whether you were there or not, the general lack of interest on this board notwithstanding. You could make a good argument that 1955-57 are the three strongest consecutive years of the entire rock and roll era.- troggy

I am chilled. Why would I show you, when I'm the one asking what they are? I've already said twice that I don't really like power ballads, at least as I understand what they are. Ballads weren't mutually excluded, I suppose, though the original post asked for favorite rock/power ballads.- troggy

Yes but her response to me was far more negative than anything I've posted in this thread. And I did later contribute by asking for someone to differentiate between ballad and "power" ballad.
