yes, the author of that book on Rory you mention was from a guy named Jean-Noel Coghe..i have also read it..There is another book on Rory from an Irish guy named Marcus Connaughton, but the book wasn't that detailed, lots of pics if i remember.
Yes Blues/Rocker Jean-Noel Coghe that's the guy as I said I think his book on Rory was the first posthumous book about him.

Also I have the Marcus Connaughton book on Rory and another book as well and when I think of the authors name I'll post it.

The book that I have been referring to in my previous posts called GALLAGHER, MARROITT, DERRINGER & TROWER has quite a bit of info from various parties including Rory himself, Donal Gallagher (Rory's brother & manager) Eric Kitteringham (the bass player in Taste Mk1) Norman Deamery (the drummer in Taste Mk1) John Wilson (the drummer in Taste Mk2) Richard 'Charlie' McCracken (bass player in Taste Mk2) Gerry McAvoy, Rod De Ath, Lou Martin, Ted McKenna, Brendon O'Neil, Mark Feltham and a few others

yes, i am a fan of Rorys rockier albums in late 70s and early 80s.
Seeing that you "quoted me" Blues/Rocker I previously forgot to include SHIN KICKER although I have subsequently added it to my original post as one of my favourite tracks off the Photo Finish album along with the others that I previously mentioned which sounded GREAT live on the STAGE STRUCK live album from 1980 and I also forgot to include another Rory favourite Secret Agent off the Calling Card album from 1977 earlier

Rory never really got the full recognition that he deserved, but i think that was mainly due to the fact of Rory shunning the limelight and not getting involved in all that showbiz nonsense..Rory steadfastly refused to release singles and he wouldn't appear on trendy pop music shows such as Top of the Pops..There was absolutely no bullshit with Rory..But i also think that because he was Irish, and with all those Irish troubles going on, some of those snooty English guitarists couldn't quite take to having an Irishman in their ranks that was just as good as them, or in my case he was better than them...interesting piece from Gerry McAvoys book 'Riding Shotgun' when back in the 70s Rory was on the same bill as Jethro Tull..Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull started up a conversation about the Irish troubles and he said to Gerry, 'When are you guys gonna sort out all that trouble over there?'..McAvoy responded by saying that its nothing to do with us, we are not political, we are just musicians from Ireland.,Anyway, Anderson went into a bit of a rant about the troubles, Gerry was getting fed up of it all and said he came close to decking him and was about to get that flute of Andersons and shove it right up Andersons backside, lol..

That's one of the reasons why I still like Rory Blues/Rocker apart from him being a 'phenomenal guitarist' and his albums was his 'no showbiz' attitude and being 'non-political' instead of all these so called "stars" these days spouting off political statements either in interviews or from the stage.

With reference to the other book on Rory that I mentioned the authors name is Julian Vignoles an Irish guy and his book came out in 2018.

Also recently I read another book on Rory that deals with the latter part of his life from 1980 onwards and written unusually by two young women possibly both the their mid/late-20s with both women being very much Rory Gallagher fan's themselves even though they both were not even born when he died. The book goes into some depth on his later life and covers the Jinx (1982), Defender (1987) & Fresh Evidence (1990) albums and what Rory was doing during those years.

There are loads n loads more but that would be my top 12..Not saying they are the worlds greatest but these are the guys that i listen to the most.

Mr. Gallagher is still a very good example to follow in real life..

As for the guitarist's mentioned by Blues/Rocker I agree with all your choices although I especially like Paul Kossoff, Leslie West, Albert King & Alvin Lee although I would also include Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower & Ritchie Blackmore when he was with Deep Purple in Mk1, Mk2, Mk3 and Rainbow especially (although I have never bothered with Blackmore's Night) and a few other guitarist's such as Johnny Winter during his 'high energy' blues/rock phase between 1970-1975, Rick Derringer, Ronnie Montrose mainly off the Montrose debut album and the follow up album Paper Money and a few other 'named' guitarist's from the late 1960s and 1970s.

This weekend has seen the annual Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival held in Ballyshannon, Ireland which is Rory's birthplace..The festival is still going strong and its been going for over 20 years now..This years event was over 4 days with tons of musicians and bands performing both indoor and outdoor around the town...The main attraction this year was Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top, who performed last night...YouTube has some clips from this years event, as well as some clips from previous years...Great to see the festival is still going strong. and many musicians, bands and fans are turning out to remember Rory.
