Between 1995-98 I actually started to purposely look like Ritchie Blackmore when I still had shoulder length dark hair which I had permed like Ritchie had his hair in Rainbow circa 1980-84 and it felt and looked good impersonating 'the man in black' and being taken for a rock guitarist by a number of dumb rock dudes.

I remember some rock dude in a London pub one evening being 'gobsmacked' when I walked in off the street and he said "Wow!. It's Ritchie Blackmore!. Hey Ritchie are you ok man!!." I just glanced at him and smiled and said "Yeah I'm fine thanks" and carried on walking to the bar and to a couple of smiling 20 year old rock chicks...

That's rock n roll guys... ;)

Yeah I reckon I could plus carry a lute over my shoulder as well.

My girlfriend is only 34 (35 the week after next on the 22nd) and I'm 61 going on 62 so that's similar to Ritchie and Candice. ;)

"Long live rock n roll..."

I'm curious about something, does anyone here in our listening audience have the Rainbow anthology album (vinyl/cd/etc)?

I have been digging through my stuff and can't seem to find ANY "best of" or "greatest hits" from Rainbow, other than Finyl Vinyl, which is more of a Live album than anything. Worse yet, the CD is missing two tracks that were on the vinyl and the cassette release, Street of Dreams and Tearin' Out My Heart.

Anyway, in terms of a "best of", Finyl Vinyl is severely lacking for many reasons.

So, I wanted to know if anyone has this anthology and what they thought of it. Two disc set, looks like they covered most of the hits and semi-hits as well as a couple of Deep Purple tracks:

Disc 1:
Man On the Silver Mountain 4:37
Sixteenth Century Greensleeves 3:29
Catch the Rainbow 6:38
Tarot Woman 5:59
Starstruck 4:06
Stargazer 8:26
Light in the Black 8:13
Mistreated (Live) 13:06
Long Live Rock 'N' Roll 4:23
Gates of Babylon 6:46
Kill the King 4:28
Rainbow Eyes 7:31

Disc 2:
Eyes of the World 6:38
Since You Been Gone 3:17
All Night Long 3:50
Weiss Heim 5:13
I Surrender 4:01
Spotlight Kid 4:53
Can't Happen Here 4:56
Jealous Lover 3:11
Death Alley Driver 4:42
Stone Cold 5:17
Tearin' Out My Heart 4:04
Power 4:26
Can't Let You Go 4:20
Desperate Heart 4:03
Street of Dreams 4:26
Difficult to Cure (Beethoven's Ninth) (Live) 11:14

I have lots of Rainbow on cds these days although back in the days of vinyl in the 1970s & 1980s I had all there studio albums on vinyl and a double album 'best of' that Polydor records put out on vinyl that came out in the UK around 1981 which was ok but it could have been so much better with loads of pictures of the band instead of an abstract picture on the front that was nothing to do with the band and some teeny weeny pictures of Blackmore, Joe Lynn Turner, Roger Glover, Don Airy, Bobby Rondinelli and maybe Cozy Powell on the inside gatefold.

I have the Rainbow singles cd box set which cost about £79!.

The above double cd?. I bought it when it came out maybe 10-12 years ago I forget when(?) and regarding the track listing yeah it's about right although maybe Lost In Hollywood off of Down To Earth mite have been welcomed but all the main songs are pretty much included on it.

44 yrs ago, the second Rainbow album was released. Only a short, 6-track, 33 minute long album, but I think that it's one hell of a release.

True Lynch. I was a onetime member of a Ritchie Blackmore appreciation society that published a magazine called MORE BLACK THAN PURPLE back around 1997-1999 and the guys running the appreciation society published a whole magazine on the RAINBOW RISING album which featured loads of 1976 period Rainbow band photographs along with a lot of album reviews from 1976 and contributions from fans personal memories of the album. The same guys also brought out a magazine on the first Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow album from 1975 and also the Long Live Rock n Roll album from 1978. Also I was waiting for the Down To Earth album from 1979 magazine but I don't think it was ever published or if it was I never saw it?.
