Saxon announce the release of new album Thunderbolt

Saxon will launch their 22nd studio album Thunderbolt in February

Saxon have announced that they’ll release their 22nd studio album Thunderbolt early next year.

The follow-up to 2015’s Battering Ram will arrive on February 2 via Militia Guard (Silver Lining Music).

Frontman Biff Byford says: “This is album 22 and it's called Thunderbolt. It's a storming, smashing, thundering collection of tracks we've been crafting with producer Andy Sneap and it's finished ready to be unleashed.

“Stand clear and fasten your seat belts!”

This should be good. Their albums in the 2010s have all been pretty decent. First signs are Andy Sneap producing that this will be epic. He is one of the greatest producers.

Love Saxon ! Great band with really, only a short lapse in quality in the 90s, otherwise their discography is pure win, IMO.

A guy that I use to know about 15 years ago couldn't stand the band for some reason although I thought they were alright and liked there earlier albums such as Wheels Of Steel, Strong Arm Of The Law, Denim And Leather & Power And The Glory plus they were lumped in with the NWOBHM movement back in 1979-81 which I liked.

As for there 1990s albums I heard and liked the Dogs Of War album from 1995 and from memory that was Graham Oliver's last album with Biff & Paul before Graham left to form Oliver/ Dawson Saxon.

Dogs of War is one of my top 5 Saxon albums.
