Some years ago I purchased his anthological box Fruit Tree edited posthumous in this version:

I was literally entranced by his music and especially his lyrics with a strong character autobiographical.
I have founded the same sensibility in a few other songwriters.
I come to mind Laura Nyro and Tim Buckley.
Don't really know Laura Nyro, but agree with your assessment on Tim Buckley, especially the first few albums (maybe up to Blue Afternoon). Fantastic musician
