I've been on a DP kick lately. I picked up In Rock and Machine Head last month, and I just love them both.

Two completely amazingly awesome LPs. FIreball and Who Do We Think We Are are two more great and highly underrated efforts IMO.

Burn is another very good one. Not as consistent as their best but enough great tracks.

As far as I'm concerned, all albums with Ritchie Blackmore are more or less essential rock albums! "Come Taste the Band" (with Tommy Bolin) is also a great record, which kindda got new life with Kevin Shirley's 2010 remix. Did you guys hear that remix?

The later material with Steve Morse is also good, but not quite as essential, except maybe "Purpendicular" and "Now What?!".

Yeah, agreed, but it's not underrated. I was strickly talking about the 2 albums that I feel get unduly dissed. Fireball especially is a killer. My top 3 are In Rock, Firebal & Burn in that order.

Right or wrong, in the public eye all Deep Purple albums languish in the shadow of Machine Head.
