Speaker Repair

In my last post in this thread, I said that I was looking to replace my speakers.
Sense then I discovered that I could repair the equipment that I already have.
The answer was buying the parts to refoam the 8" Woofers. I found online where to purchase the foam rings and the special glue to fix them myself. The company even provided a link to see a professional do the same repair so I would have an easier time doing it myself. I ordered the parts and have repaired my speakers. It worked out just GREAT !

Great news! :)

I wish I still had the Pioneer receiver (circa 1976) I got from my father, but I sold it years ago when I moved.

Agreed, good news Radagast.

I still own a Sansui tube amplifier and a couple AKAI reel to reel players my Dad left me. There is nothing that sounds quite like that old amp warming up. I love that sound. :D

Touch-ups...

@Radagast...thumbs up on your DIY project. Glad to read that you were able to perform the work. It's better if you can do it and saves $$$.

@Phil B...tubes are great. They take the edge and glare off digital recordings in most instance. It rounds out the sonics with better resolution. I have a Yaqin CD-2 CJ1 tube buffer between a DAC and my pre-amp which gives a very nice analog sound to my CDs. The best part of it is that I can into the tube rolling game. I've since bought two pairs of Tung-Sols that are more than adequate. I bet that Sansui sounds nice even today. Same with the Akai reels. Those are vintage...hard to find in tip top condition and fetch a good sum whenever they are on the market.

@Black Dahlia...I feel your angst. There are some components to this day that I wish I did not part with.

@MrJim...did you get that Onkyo replaced BTW? :****:

Although I don't have tapes anymore, I still own an 8 track tape player. It is still in working order and I save it as a memory to the past. I also am preserving a double cassette player/recorder. Time marches on. LOL :)

its amazing how many cassette decks are kicking around these days. I was out this past weekend and came across no less than 6 units in the various pawn establishments. some of them looked to be in surprisingly decent shape, but then again didn't try them

gcczep; how'd the testing go with the MSD Link DAC that some "take your DAC seriously" equipment right there.
