Re: Early REO

Probably just cause they are a bit more on the poppy side...I see you like alot more southern sounding rock..at times...not always...but I guess even in their pop mode it's all there still.

I love both albums!! They get knocked on but they are fine recordings. :grinthumb

I love the southern, but I'm a sucker for the catchy stuff as well:tongue::D

Agreed....Hi Infidelity and Good Trouble, IMO are the cornerstone of the bands career...I think I'm gonna give the later a spin now. :grinthumb

These I'd imagine are the most successful and in my opinion best, but Ridin' Out The Storm does need to be recognized much more than it is, thats got radio friendly songs on it even, and its so good, not up to Good Trouble and HI, but its still a great album:D

Oh yeah Tuna Fish too!!! But that was the start of them being real good song writers!!

My favorite from Tuna Fish is Say You Love Me Or Say Goodbye!

But Roll With The Changes and Time For Me To Fly they were on their way!

Kevin Cronin saved what could have been a disaster with everyone in the poor house to fame and fortune and made sure the integrity and great songs were all in place.

The band and the fans are greatful to where he helped take this awesome band!.

Re: Early REO

I used to have a copy of Ridin' the Storm Out and I recall that I liked the songs pretty well, but in the end I just couldn't quite take the interim vocalist. I don't even remember his name, but he was the one who sang in between Kevin Cronin's two terms with the band. Something about his voice just grated on me a bit.

Craig, if I remember somewhat correctly, I believe there were two different releases of "Ridin' The Storm Out". One has Kevin Cronin doing the vocals, with the other one having Mike Murphy. I can't recall which one was released first, but I think it was the one with Mike Murphy, then the record company pulled them and rerecorded the vocals with Cronin. Or, it could be the other way around, after all these years I'm somewhat surprised that I remembered! :heheh:

The "Ridin' The Storm Out" CD that I have does have Mike Murphy.

On a different note, with many bands both showing interest in and also some that have gotten back togehter for "reunion" shows/tours, I've not heard any talk of any of the past members of R.E.O. trying to do that. Personally, I wouldn't be very interested unless Gary Richrath was included. He not only put a lot of himself into that band, but also into his guitar playing and live performances. I was very impressed with him before seeing him in concert, and was even more impressed afterwards. :geetar:
